Here is a beautiful picture that was sent to me of Panama City at night, taken from the "Casco Viejo".

Stuck in the 80's !

Not that anyone here is stuck in the 80's, but this is a fun page from the Tampa Bay Times which has great stuff on artists, events, and news from the 80's and its celebrities, songs, and culture. There is even a podcast you can add to your Apple Itunes for your IPOD. Its a blast from the past, enjoy.

Updated the WEBLOG with recent pictures from email.

There's a video available from the 2008 Cayuco Race, which in recent years has a corporate sponsor - Nissan. The guys from SNAFU are in the video.

Also, someone asked me about the NIC and whatever happened to it. If I'm not mistaken, the NIC is renamed the "Anacardium", and is still a top contender. Its easy to recognize the unique curved shape of this boat.

Panama Canal Museum

I've just received the annual mailing from the Panama Canal Museum, which is a non-profit organization that the Panama Canal Society has put together for a small museum with old canal artifacts, Canal Zone memorabilia and more.

If you're a member of the Society and receive these I need not say more. They really need some support and are crying out for help. The younger crowd has families and jobs to take care of, so if you are outside of Florida the best way to help is money. They don't ask for much. $26 dollars for a "annual membership" which helps them keep the museum alive and improving. Its a good project and hopefully will one day receive either the corporate or government sponsorship it deserves. It was after all a huge undertaking on the part of the United States and its workers from many countries.

Here is the link for the museum.
